This photo of 2 butterlies was taken near Mitchell, ON. on June3rd. The butterflies stayed on this small shrub for a full day. The wing span of each appeared to be about 5". I have googled "butterflies" but have not been successful in finding a photo of them. If anyone knows what they are, I would be thrilled to hear about it.
Thanks,
Carol

I found it! I found a website that says:
"Hyalophora cecropia, commonly called the Cecropia Moth or Robin Moth, is one of about 10 species of Saturniidae recorded from the Ottawa area (J.D. Lafontaine, pers. comm., 2001). The Saturniidae, variously termed the Giant Silkworm or Royal Moths include our largest and some of our most spectacular moths."
Here is the website where I found it.
