From the activity in my backyard this morning, it looks like a good day for birding: several yellow rumps, black-throated green, black and white and Brown Creeper in just a couple of minutes and lots more singing.

That's a nice list there Brian.

It gets better! Tonight, I was tempted to go birding, but decided to stay home and pull dandelions. I figured the birding would be better in the morning, so I'd get the weeding out of the way. On my first trip to the compost I stopped to look at what I'd flushed from under my feeders. The one bird that remained on full view was a Grasshopper Sparrow! He sat on top of the fence for a couple of minutes and turned around to make sure I got a good look from all angles. I've never had such a good view. Every other time I've seen one they've been running around in the tall grass, barely visible.
Made my day! :-)
