Title: Maplewood Park - Cooper's Hawk baby #1
Post by: Bird Brain on May 02, 2012, 01:28:52 PM
Hi everyone.  I was walking at Maplewood Park today from 10:15am - 11:45am.  Bumped into Bob (rcflier) and sighted the following:

Black-and-White Warbler x 1 (Spring male)
Blue Jay x 1
Brown Thrasher x 1
Cardinal x 1 (male)
Chickadees
Chipping Sparrows x 2 (Summer plumage)
Hairy Woodpecker x 1 (male)
House Sparrows - lots
Robin x 1 - adult female sitting in a nest
Starlings x 2 (juv.)

Re: Cooper's Hawks ... male hawk brings food to a "ledge" not far from nest, female hawk then collects food, flies back to nest and is leaning down feeding one baby (baby not visible from walking trail).  Hopefully soon will be able to sight the baby (and a few more!).  :D  8)

Maplewood Park:  East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.
