Title: Leslie Spit - 10 Warbler Species in 2 days
Post by: Trillian Flummox on May 02, 2012, 03:09:14 PM
Over the last two days in the "Wet Woods" there have been 10 Warbler species observed! My favourite today was the Cape May Warbler, partly because I had several  frustratingly brief sightings before I finally saw it clearly enough to identify!  I was personally able to observe the first 8 on this list (some with help!), and spoke to other birders who found the last two:

Yellow-rumped  (at least two dozen)
Pine  (1)
Palm  (1)
Black-throated Green  (2)
Black-and-white  (1)
Yellow  (1)
Nashville  (1)
Cape May  (1)
Tennessee  (1)
Northern Parula  (1)

Of other interest, a pair of Blue Gray Gnatcatchers building a nest, a Common Loon and a Northern Harrier flying over, a Brown Thrasher, and spotted by another birder early this morning - a Baltimore Oriole. No sign of yesterday's Rose-breasted Grosbeak.  Thanks to Jim and Petra for today's help and conversation - it's great to meet other birders!   :D
