Title: Piping Plover

Went to Sauble Beach this aft and spotted a Piping Plover!
Before all of youz get your knickers in a twist, the MNR had roped off the whole area as the bird had little ones.
If anyone is interested....it's on the North side of the beach by the Dunes.  :D

Sometimes its more important not to be told for the bird's sake as most of us are watchers/listers etc not scientists/conservation people and what really matters is the bird.

i was on a small vacation there and saw the story in the newspaper. it wasn't too much of a secret. there are volunteers and a conservation officer there around the clock. they are keeping people a safe distance from the birds. i did get a look at the female and the 3 chicks feeding as far north on the beach as you can go. as long as you respect the situation, it should be OK to view the bird. if you have a scope, even better. you can stay even further away. i believe it is the first time in over 30 yrs this bird has been spotted in this side of the lake (or at least nested there). lets keep our fingers crossed that they come back next year. and for years to come.
