Juvenile Black crowned night heron seen today as I was walking up Etobicoke creek, just north of Lakeshore.  It was sitting in a dead tree.

Good to hear the heron is still around. I haven't seen any of the herons this year and was wondering if they had disappeared.

We kayaked up the Humber River on Monday and saw 5 great egrets, 3 adult black crowned night herons and 4 juveniles, and one deer. There is also a small cormorant colony with 5 nests. We kayak north from the boat launch on South Kingsway and we can almost get to the Bloor St bridge before the water becomes too shallow. We saw all the birds in the marshes north of this boat launch, just past where the river turns.
