Title: Birding the Maritimes
Post by: newfoundlander61 on July 11, 2012, 07:24:54 AM
Driving through Quebec/NB/NS end or this week for a while and was looking for some birding spots to stop along the way down and back. Anyone know of any decent areas for photography this time of the year. Thanks for any feedback or help.

The Sackville Waterfowl Park is a must-see. Sackville is about 45 minutes from Moncton and pretty much on the way to Nova Scotia. The park is divided by a highway and sometimes the best viewing of birds like American Bittern are on the other side from the Visitor's Centre. They'll direct you. The main park on the Visitor's Centre side is good for rails. I almost always see Sora from the boardwalks and have even seen mating Virginia Rails. Allow at least three hours but it can be done more quickly, if necessary.
