Title: Sanderlings at Balm Beach Tiny Township
Post by: silverfoxx on August 24, 2012, 09:50:12 PM
I saw 6 Sanderlings at Balm Beach yesterday
my Peterson field guide seems to indicate that their territory is limited to coasts and far north
are they very common in this area?

They are usually seen on beaches in Southern Ontario in Aug-Sep during fall migration. More rarely during spring migration. I guess your field guide only shows breeding and wintering grounds.

Very nice!

Where along the beach?  just did a quick tour down the beach

No Sanderlings or Brown Thrashers.
