Title: Sam Smith - Sep 5
Post by: thouc on September 05, 2012, 12:26:04 PM
It was a nice day at Sam Smith today, I got three FOY birds! Pine Warbler, a Merlin doing a high-speed chase and 2 Solitary Sandpipers in the pond by the platform. I didn't go to the marina so I have no update on the Grebe babies. Full list below.

Also did Sam Smith's yesterday.  Did not see the Merlin but watched a Coopers Hawk dive after squirrels (next to the bowl).  Pretty impressive sight.  The Grebes' nest was empty and got us worried for a bit. We eventually found the whole family, quite far away from their nest - exploring.  One of the parents with chicks, the other bringing small fish and feeding the young.  A very happy sight.
