Title: Wood Duck
Post by: MEGHAN on September 10, 2012, 07:23:24 PM
This is the closest I have ever been able to get to a Wood Duck. Mind you I haven't tried for the "tame" ones at High Park yet. I don't think she really knew I was there, because after I fired off a few frames she seemed to look at me like she was seeing me for the first time and then blasted off in true Wood Duck fashion. **read straight to the other end of the pond as fast as her wings would take her**
I did enjoy her company for the mere 5 seconds we spent together.

The ones at High Park are so tame that it feels like cheating, maybe? They'll nip at my shoes sometimes when I'm sitting down. They're worse than mallards and impossible not to kiss. It's a miracle that I haven't yet scooped and smooched one. To quote Woody Allen (himself a bastion of high-minded values): "The artist creates his own moral universe." Har har har.

Yup earlier in the summer that is what they did - scoot.... Later on they got to know we are no threat so are much less likely to run and swim quite close. But.. nothing like that Park.
