Title: Owls in the GTA?
Post by: pacharo on September 14, 2012, 03:05:32 PM
I would be grateful for any guidance on where (and when) I could observe owls in the GTA.

I have yet to add an owl to my life list.  But I now have a request from a grandchild who LOVES owls and wants to see a "real" one (meaning other than at the zoo…)

Winter is usually the best time.

Owl locations are usually kept secret to avoid disturbing them unnecessarily, but Leslie Street Spit (Tommy Thompson park) is a good spot. Snowy Owls are usually posted, often show up along the lakefront or in the fields north of Toronto (Keswick and Bradford areas).

Every tiny woodlot has screech owls.
