Title: Strange Bug
Post by: Brian Bailey on July 13, 2007, 11:14:17 PM
I found this bug on a window screen this afternoon.  It doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before.

Any ideas?

That's a plume moth, although I don't know which one in particular.

Thanks Marnie, you're right!

The moth family was not near the top of my guess list, but that's what it is.

It's in the family Pterophoridae.  The things sticking out the side of its head are wings.

"Moth" doesn't really spring to mind when you see that shape, does it? I learned about these guys last year when I found one in my garden.
