I saw a beautiful Baltimore Oriole near Bloor/Jarvis.I've been here ten years,and never seen
    one before.It was may 8/o6 so he must have been late emigrating.Any comments?  :?:

NEW TO THIS SIGHT (FANTASTIC - GLAD I FOUND IT!!) - WE SPOTTED BOTH MALE AND FEMALE BALTIMORE ORIOLES IN THE NORTH RICHMOND HILL AREA BACKING ONTO THE OAK RIDGES MORAINE. DO THEY FREQUENT BIRD FEEDERS??? AND WHAT KIND OF FOOD DO THEY EAT???

There are nectar feeders made specifically for orioles - I have no idea how successful they are.  Also they like to eat fruit, especially cut-up orange (fittingly).  There are feeders for this too, but you could probably do just as well by spiking some pieces on tree branches.
They will ignore the usual seed feeders.

I have had Orioles for four years now swarming my tacky orange feeder.  Last year we had 6-- i had to buy a second feeder-- this year I think just four.

They generally arrive May 10 or 11-- this year the were late-- and they are still here.  They are jumpy at first, but yeaterday i was gardening 4 feet from the feeder, and my dogs were running all  over the place and the birds stayed put.   The nectar level has been dropping dramatically .

 They only stay abou 3 weeks, max.
