Title: Bohemians, etc @ Port Severn
Post by: Rob'in'To on November 06, 2012, 02:37:58 PM
We did an overnight in Port Severn.  Right outside our balcony at the Christie Mill Inn flew in a nice flock of Common Redpolls (30 or so).  Moments later a Northern Shrike flew in and snagged one of those Redpolls.  What a sight!

Short bit later I took a drive around some back roads and chanced upon two dozen plus Bohemian Waxwings.  Lifer for me!  And they put on a great show of flight, feeding and vocalization.  I followed their path a km or so up the road before losing them.

It's always nice up there......Sister lives across the lake and through the Trent narrows a bit.....  8)

We've cruised up a few times on the boat and had dinner overlooking the water at The Mill.

Have seen a couple of "lifers" myself.....including a Sora this past summer.
