Title: Nothern saw-whet owl and its lunch
Post by: mr.sharp-photo on November 17, 2012, 02:49:20 PM
First saw-whet owl of this season. It had its (headless) lunch in its tallons. guessing it was a mouse?

Adult mice usually are eaten in pieces in two different meals. Neat capture.

I know how you feel...I first stopped at Halls road on Sat and saw the Barred owl but with the regular crowds surrounding it....it somehow took away from the  Zen feeling.... I than went to another area and came upon a 2nd barred all by itself ...just me and the owl... a real soul searching event

Imagine the winter is just starting...seems to me there are alot more than other years...maybe a great winter for Jan -Feb

the snowies are probably going to be in toronto within the next 1-2 weeks.
will be interesting to see what we have in the GTA - barred, snowies, some saw-whets....a few boreal? any LEOs?

yeah, looks like it will be fun. maybe next year = great grey owls!?!
