Title: 12/12/12 Turkey Vulture
Post by: farmer on December 12, 2012, 09:24:14 PM
I was quite surprised to see a lone turkey vulture fly over the farm in Leamington today! Isn't it kind of late for them to still be around? I would have expected them to be all migrated down south by now.

Ya just never know anymore.  Last January we were having brunch in Mississauga near Square One and a Turkey Vulture came soaring low over Burhamthorpe.  We were in awe.  I don't think anyone else in the restaurant was.

My Dad wondered if the bird was not well enough to fly south, but it appeared fine to me. Maybe he is just enjoying our new non-winter :D

Nice find!
There are a couple of big winter roosts around. None out your way that I know of, but over in NY State. There is one big  roost of !6 Turkey and 4 Black Vultures. So there are still lots around.
