I had my first opportunity to photograph a pair of American Kestrels on Dec. 16, near Leamington. I am not crazy about the powerlines in the photo, but I was still thrilled for the first pics of them. :D

If that is what they stand on to pose for you then there is nothing much one can do about that.
I would take this opportunity anytime hehe

I say the same thing about Snowys sitting on hydro poles. But what can ya do? Doesn't seem quite natural but if they are in developed areas, I guess it is.

Thanks. That is the great thing about birding, you can always hope to upgrade your current shots, but in the mean time you are happy to get a lifer no matter if you get a good shot or not.

Any lifer for me, I spend as much time watching it with my own eyes before looking through the camera as possible. The pictures in my mind of the moment will always be so much better than what I attempt with the camera. :)
