Today, I was pulling out of a Tim Hortons ( Major Mac and Hwy #48) after having lunch. Only a few feet from the entrance, perched on top of a leafless tree was a American Kestel, in full view. Of course, on the day I don't have my camera. Most days I have it, but today was too cold. I've been trying for several years now to get a close enough shot of one, it seems every time I see one that close I don't have my camera with me. It would have been nice shot.

Yeah they're tricky to get a good pic of. All of mine from Saturday at Downsview park were from maximum magnification.

We need a 800mm + a bunch of teleconverters attached. :)

my best kestrel shots have been from walks.
a year or 2 ago, my wife and i were walking along the Don River. all the sudden, she says "don't move" and i slowly look to my right. in a tree, 8 feet off the ground and 10-15 feet from us, is a kestrel, standing on a brand with the sun at a perfect angle. she took some pictures and i took 2-3. that was all i needed.
good times.

Awesome! One day, I hope I get that lucky, the sooner the better..... they are my favourite bird of prey.
