The largest number of Trumpeter Swans seen and counted today at 31 several are of the untagged variety and presumed new to the area taking shelter from the extreme cold temperatures today. Most were out in the southwest bay of the Lake as the inner protected bay is full of broken ice and difficult for them to move around I suspect this ice will freeze over tonight. Several more Buffleheads seen and a larger than normal number of Common Mergansgers, and about 15 longtails were also seen. The usual 100 Mallards, and Canada Geese moving about.

nice flights...not to be picky and I know you are new to the board but the "Toronto Report" section is more for reports and pictures are placed into " Ontario Bird " section

Well I left work a bit early and raced down to the Bluffers before sunset. Luckily we gain a couple of minutes of daytime every day. Got there about 20 minutes to 5.
I saw many Mallards, a bunch of Trumpters (with a Tundra Swan among them I believe), a few Am. Black Ducks, several Canada Geese, plenty of Ring-Billed Seagulls. a few Buffleheads (male and female) and a number of Long-Tailed Ducks (male and female). Took pictures of all the birds I didn't have pictures of yet, but I had a hard time with the Buffleheads...they're such fast swimmers and so shy that most of my shots were long-distance or blurry or both. A couple made it to the acceptable category. Will try again next time. I'll upload some pics in the photo-thread.
