That number still pales in comparison to the 20.7 billion small mammals – like rats, voles and chipmunks – who annually exit this mortal coil at the paw of some predatory kitty cat.

Those numbers are staggering.
The limited flashing, baiting, feeding, tagging, that goes on appears pretty inconsequential in comparison.
The only difference between us and them is that we have a conscience and we act based on how much of it we have.

Cats are the only domestic animals that can make the transition between home life and wild life instantly. You can even throw them in the middle of a forest and they will likely find a way to survive. So specialized is the cat and her hunting / killing skills. It is one of nature's most interesting designs...so cute yet so deadly.
