Title: Free Feb 9th Bird Walk at Downsview Park
Post by: Flyingbass on February 04, 2013, 02:55:12 PM
Hello Everyone,

We have had a couple of busy weeks at Downsview Park.  Beyond the usual raptor activity (mostly American Kestrels and Red Tailed Hawks) we have had the good fortune of seeing a couple species of Owl in the Park.  There has been a pretty regular Barred Owl in the park as well as one sighting each of a Snowy Owl and three Short-eared Owls. On Saturday February 9th there will be an organized bird walk around the park.  We'll start at 12:30 at 35 Carl Hall Road (west side entrance in the Discovery centre). Please take a look at this map as the park can be a little confusing, http://www.downsviewpark.ca/maps-and-di ... s/park-map (http://www.downsviewpark.ca/maps-and-directions/park-map).  If you have any questions please feel free to send me an email at jdeshman@downsviewpark.ca.  As always please share this post with anyone who might be interested in some urban birding.

Thanks,

Jonny

Hello everyone,

I have decided to  reschedule our organized bird walk at Downsview Park, too much snow!  The park has a lot of interesting locations for birding, with this snow we wouldn't be able to see most of the park.  All this means is that the meeting location (Discovery Centre) will be locked and you won't have access to washrooms. I also won't be there to show you a couple of good spots.  If you still want to go on a birding adventure you are still more than welcome to!

I am still really excited about a bird walk in Downsview Park, it would be great to share knowledge and see some birds.  I will let you know about any future walks.
