So sad to find a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker on the sidewalk here in Riverdale this morning. I wonder if he's the same fellow I observed in Withrow Park over the holidays?
What should I do with him? Do any organizations keep specimens?
thanks,
Kris

I know someone at the ROM who is interested in getting specimens from time to time. They are not necessarily kept long term, but are used for training and practice in specimen preparation. Send me a PM with your name and email address in it, and I will send it on to him - you would then need to arrange a date and time with him to bring it to the ROM, if in fact he wants it. Keep bird frozen. Disclaimer: technically, possession of most bird bodies/feathers is illegal, but for all practical purposes there is no meaningful legal risk in a situation like this.
