Title: Birds A Plenty at Ashbridges today
Post by: SA Birder on February 14, 2013, 08:08:11 PM
The weather brought them all around -

Mute Swans
Bufflehead
Long Tailed Duck
American Coot (just one pair mixed in with the others)
Golden Eye
Gadwells
Mallards
Canadian Geese
Two Commorants

And around the Park -

Red Tailed Hawks - one eating on the ground a great Valentine Meal and the other hunting
Chickadees
One Northern Mockingbird - a lifer for me

Bumped into a fellow birder who said the spit is quiet compared to earlier in January - goes every week so seemed to be a valid source.

the Spit is great for some things. some nice Goldeneye and long tail ducks. last week, saw a beaver up close. also saw 10 redpolls and a kestrel.
of course, the Spit is for owl birding come wintertime. but it also involves 2-3 hrs of walking.
