The Harlequin Duck continues in the two eastern most bays at Sam's, hanging out with a group of Buffleheads. I don't see any colour on him yet but his white markings are starting to look very clear now. My son and I enjoyed nice long views with my new second hand scope - thank you Andreas!! The Western Grebe was seen by others early in the morning but had disappeared by 10 am. We didn't have time to explore the whole park today so missed out on the Horned Larks & Snow Buntings that have been reported on ebird! No sign of the Snowy, which I hope means she is now somewhere safe from her overly enthusiastic fans.

People in a canoe scared the Western Grebe away this morning apparently. It hadn't returned by 5:30. A White-winged Scoter was in the
bay where the Harlequin is. Red-necked and Horned Grebes. Several mink scampering along the rocky shoreline. An Iceland Gull in the marina.
And a Red-winged Blackbird. Could it be Spring?
