Title: Grackle's and Red-winged Blackbirds
Post by: Napper on March 10, 2013, 10:49:58 AM
Anyone else seeing Grackles and Red-winged Blackbirds this fine "Spring forward" morning?

There is a definite increase in activity today. Thought I heard a Robin last evening, they did not
overwinter in our area this year.

Napper Milton

P.S We still have 6 inches of snow or more in the front yard

around 10 RWBB at the Spit.
started hearing robins mid-week last week. yesterday, saw two do a mating flutter in my brother's back yard.
cardinals have been singing for the past week.
yep. spring is pretty  much here. my back yard's spring bulbs confirm it. already poking through the soil.

I haven't seen or heard any RWBB's at Lake Aquitaine yet but this is OK - the back of my head has enough holes in it, thanks.

The Robins were out in full force along the sides of the roads down near the shores of Lake Erie as were a large number of Redwinged Blackbirds. Nearer to Port Burwell area I saw at least 4 different Killdeers that tried to entice me away from the direction I was walking. I guess spring has sprung.  :D

I tried to post this thread at around 9:30 this morning with no luck using a smartphone.

It kinda read like this

At 6:00 am this morning I heard a Killdeer at Downsview.
Later around 9:30 am there were 3 killdeer and a group of RWBB's

Come to my backyard I have a group of Grackles, between 3 - 5, daily for the past week or two eating me out of house and home.

trust me my area has gone to people who stare out of their windows and turn away when they see others walking towards their home ...and then stare more as you walk by. Not even a hello. Literally, i am sure Kitchener and every village like mine has it ... social decline.

We used to have neighbors like you and like us who invite others for a drink, chat, whatever... ironically a girl who began working as a bartender at a local watering hole live in the Kitchen ... and she says people are cool.

We are just old school friendly's... rare...  thanks for the invite, you would be tired of me in a month.  :D

Grackles have overrun our neighbourhood in the last two or three years. They're all gone by now, but they arrive early Spring and hang around til mid-July.

 might be worth it to get rid of those darn Gracklings, which of course I would pack up to go home with you.  :)
