Title: Western Grebe @ Samuel Smith
Post by: Rotarran on March 10, 2013, 06:47:07 PM
Earlier today I finally got to see and photograph this guy.  Kept his distance for the most part but he got in a bit close a couple of times.

Hope I don't offend anybody but after nearly 7 days in a row trying to catch a glimpse of this bird, I certainly had a hallelujah moment when I first saw him.  So this picture was fitting and was actually near where I first spotted him:

Just hanging out:

A bit of Tai Chi

Two of Toronto's rarest birds   :

More chillin' like a villain

Huh!?!

Probably my best close-up:

Hope you enjoyed...it's the best I could do.  Maybe somebody got better pics.

LOL Nice of you to leave a landmark in the first shot! ;)  Finally... Congrats!
I especially like the shot next to the goose for comparison... quite a different bird.

Yeah it looks like they have interesting looking feet.

Apparently they do this often (not my pic)

Great pictures, maybe I will try stopping by next time I have to go through the city.  Looks like you are having the same weather luck as I am.  I finally got 2 days off work in a row and it rained yesterday and it isn't looking very promising today either.

Yeah he was reasonably close when it was overcast and a bit too far out when it got sunny.  Nobody said it was easy ;)
