Title: Humber Marshes

Great day on the Humber River with my son visiting the marshes south of Old Mill by kayak.  Many species including: several Least Sandpipers, Lesser Yellowlegs and Greater Yellowlegs?, Killdeer, 6 Belted Kingfishers, 8 Great Blue Herons, 10+ Great Egrets and many of the usuals.  A great way to get good looks at the birds.

Easiest is a public access immed.adjacent to South side of PetroCan Sta. on Kingsway. Alternate; Put canoe in at Lakeshore and paddle upriver beneath all the bridges, watch the turbulent waves on a windy day at the mouth. You may be abble to put in at South end of Etienne Brule Park south of Old Mill on west side of river, south of the stone bridge over the Humber. Total paddle time is 30 min. (L.Ont to Old Mill) but go very slowly, flatwater and stay on the main channel so as to not disrupt the birds. Foot access is quite difficult and limited.

We launched near the Old Mill Subway Station parking under the bridge.  paddlethehumber.com  is the outfitter.
