Title: Bohemian Waxwings, Milton
Post by: Napper on March 17, 2013, 03:06:07 PM
At first I thought the 40 plus birds across the street were starlings but when I went out to have a look
I immediately knew they were waxwings of the Bohemian type.

I asked for permission to enter the yard across the street and explained to the neighbour
what they were.

I took a few shots but they are all pretty much in shadow or hidden by branches

I'll have a look but I don't think any of the images are promising. I'll post
them after the races are done.

Beautiful and majestic. I posted on seeing them too years ago and it was aa memory I will never forget.  That tree is gone now but I still look for them ...

Yes I check out every group of Waxwings I see.

Unfortunately the ones that visited the other day were gone
by sunset.

Over the last few days I've been hearing Bohemian Waxwings again.
They were in the trees just down the road from our place in Milton.

This morning a large flock of 30 to 40 or more took flight from a tree
hidden behind a house across the street as a Turkey Vulture circled low.
