First day of Spring and I just had to get out there!! I enjoyed a snowy walk through Willet Creek and Serena Gundy with very little else to see but this handsome Pileated - made the whole trip worthwhile!! He was very busy creating a gaping hole in a dead tree so he's clearly been there at least a little while - maybe he'll stick around for others to find. If you want to look for him, I entered the park off Leslie and parked in the second parking lot after following the road to the right. To enter Serena Gundy you walk across a metal bridge and just follow the main path. He was just past the washrooms beside the "picnic area #1" sign, on the right (west) side of the path. If he's around you should be able to hear him drumming.
