Title: Sam Smith's firsts for us
Post by: Molebird on March 21, 2013, 10:03:13 AM
We finally lucked in on the Western Grebe yesterday.  It was awesome.  Also saw two Killdeer fly across the Australian Rules field, a Shrike and a very active Brown Creeper.

The Killdeer like the field in the spring - found a dead chick and a frantic and upset mom circling it last spring - just after one of those big red grass cutting machines had been through.  It was a sad sight.

we should be smart and put up signs/warnings for the staff to not cut near an area
