Title: Snow Geese North of Oakville
Post by: Trillian Flummox on March 29, 2013, 08:56:52 PM
A pleasant drive through the countryside north or Oakville today yielded 3 Snow Geese - 2 white morph and 1 blue.  Conspicuous amongst a flock of a thousand Canada Geese roosting in a farmer's field, we were able to view them from the car. This was about 5:30 pm.  Located just East of Eighth Line, between Derry Road and Britania. Other notables were a male Northern Pintail and a Cackling Goose.

I checked out the same area this morning. No snow geese, but the big flooded field at Brittania & 8th had tons of waterfowl in it. My estimates:
1 Blue-winged Teal
4 Wood Duck
15 Green-winged Teal
30 American Black Duck
80 American Wigeon
200 Northern Pintail
400 Mallard
600 Canada Goose

Lots more geese flying over, including 2 Cackling, as well as a few Tundra Swans.
