Hi everyone. I was walking around Maplewood Park this afternoon from 12-1pm. Sighted the following:
Blue Jays x 2
Cardinals x 2 (1m, 1f)
Cooper's Hawk x 1 (f) - flew across the front of my face then visited old nest at South edge of woods, stomped around in it for about 30 seconds then flew to old nest at East side of woods, repeated the same behaviour then flew to old nest at NW corner of woods - same behaviour again. Hopefully this means she's deciding where to have this year's nest and hopefully this year we will see some babies! :D
Trees are bare so it's easy to see the old active nests and old "false" nests. Trails have a lot of puddles and mud, side dirt trail is a mess!
Found a pink plastic egg, opened it up and found a piece of paper with #3 written on it. Probably from local school or church doing some sort of Easter egg hunt.
Maplewood Park: East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.
