Title: New birds for me this week
Post by: Palo on April 03, 2013, 07:33:15 PM
Hi folks, here are the new species I photographed this week with a huge help from Rotarren.  Thx dude! ;)

Most of these birds were far off and their images aren't great, but at least I can scratch them off my list.  Enjoy

Ring-necked Duck - 2013-03-30 Morningside Heights

Killdeer - 2013-03-30 Humber Bay West - This was very close.

Harlequin Duck - 2013-03-30 Col. Sam Smith Park - This was really far away, I could not even spot it without the binoculars.

Pied-billed Grebe - 2013-04-02 Humber Bay East - I had to hide in the bushes and wait for him to get close.

Ruddy Ducks - 2013-04-02 Humber Bay East - A bunch of them are hiding out behind the man-made islands on the east side.

Excellent stuff my friend.  Nice spotting of the Killdeer!  And the Mockingbird picture is quite enchanting.  Morningside heights is quite the hidden treasure eh?

Those Killdeer are tricky, I lay down in the grass and waited for half an hour to get a good shot at Downsview the other day.

Thx Bronco, when you're new to it like I am, it's real easy to find new birds.  LOL  But it's starting to get hard and harder. ;)

Thx Rotarren, Morningside Heights was definitely a surprise!  It didn't look like a place that would produce.  Thanks for your help again.  Cheers

The one or ones at Downsview, I could never get close enough to get a good shot.  We stumbled into this guy while driving through Humber Bay Park and it allowed us to get fairly close.  I guess blind luck. ;)
