Title: Purple Finches and Killdeers - Walmart in Markham

In the east/south-east corner of the Walmart parking lot in Markham that is near Hwy 7 and Bayview off Hightech Blvd, you can find some very nosy Killdeers and at least one pair of Purple Finches (one male and one female). Also the usual grackles and house sparrows.  Posted April 9.

Excellent report.  Thank you so much.  I found them almost exactly where you said they'd be.  I kinda had a feeling they'd show up because I went out when the rain kinda lifted and the sunlight broke through just a bit...so they were probably raring to go for a flight.  I took some pics and will post tonight.  From everything I have seen, they are indeed purple finches..my first ones.  Also saw the Killdeer...causing a racket of course.  :D

I posted the pics in Ontario Birds section.  Not 100% if they're Purple Finches, but they're as close as I have ever seen...so I guess we'll see what some of the other forumers think.

Well my suspicion was correct...the birds  I took pictures of are House Finches not Purple Finches...but that doesn't mean that what you spotted weren't Purple Finches.  I may swing by again to take another look.
