Title: Osprey - Kitchener / Cambridge
Post by: rcflier on April 10, 2013, 03:13:11 PM
It is very public knowledge that there is an Osprey nest on tall poles along Fountain Street ( Homer Watson Blvd but south of the 401 ) on the east bank of the Grand River.

While on our outing yesterday to visit the Sandhill Cranes ( etc ) at Bannister Lake and Grass LAke we wanted to stop by the Osprey nest to visit the returning couple.

We were very pleasantly rewarded with perfect views of 2 Osprey "guarding the nest.  I suspect this is a mating pair preparing for mating / nesting.  A third Osprey entered the area while we were there and we witnessed some very spectacular aerial "combat" while one of the nesting couple defended the area.
