Title: High Park Fallout
Post by: Iain on May 11, 2006, 03:10:29 PM
Birded the park today and yesterday and the difference a bit of bad weather makes was evident.  Yesterday I had three warbler species (yellow-rumped, black-throated blue and yellow) in very low numbers.  Today warbler song was unavoidable, and a particularly productive spot was directly across from the restaurant along both sides of the flower-garden/waterfall that runs down to the pond.  Overnight rain grounded a large number of warblers and others:

Warblers:
Yellow-rumped
Yellow
Black-throated Green
Black-throated Blue
Cape May
Magnolia
Blackburnian
American Redstart
Nashville
Chestnut-sided
Palm

Vireos:
Warbling
Red-eyed
Blue-headed
Yellow-throated

Others:
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks
Orchard and Baltimore Orioles
Swainson's and Wood Thrushes
Green and Black-crowned Night Herons (North end of Grenadier Pond)
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
