A lot is moving through right now. I usually don't see this variety in 1.5 hours of walking city parks.

Smallest Downy Woodpecker I've ever seen. Maybe as small as 3/4 size.

Unknown fish species. If you know what it is I'd like to know. Unfortunately the creek was jammed with logs and trash and I don't think they can make it past the jam without some human help.

Canada Goose (Nesting on a roof. Hence the close up shot but a bit of a drop for her babies later in the spring.)

Holy crap that's a great list!!
Not bad for less than 2 hours of birding.
I like the Hermit Thrush the best.

The fish is probably a steelhead. (Rainbow trout) They are going up creeks and rivers this time of the year to spawn.

You've got a very nice assortment of wildlife anatum! And the fish is definitely from the trout family... use to fly fish a lot at the Forks of the Credit. Thx

Wow, you had a great day....I love the Eastern Towhee, haven't seen that one yet, but I have seen the Spotted Towhee in Cali. Lucky you!

Thanks for the kind words and the ID on the fish.
The Towhee (actually two males together), I am embarrassed to admit, was just a lucky find as I was at that moment trying to chase the fish!
On a side note, are those fish a species at risk? The creek they are trying to swim up is still jammed by some logs and garbage and judging by how many there are, I think they're stuck. Not sure who or if I should make a call? Also, this park has a building proposal from the city of Mississauga. Does anyone have any tips on how to approach the government on preventing development? In the two days I went after work I counted 23 species of birds, deer, muskrat, crayfish and even one very large clam. I think the least I could do is make a call. Any advice would be helpful

These deer were near Derry and Hwy 10 but your best bet, in my opinion, is Riverwood. If you have some time and you look, I'd say you have a 50/50 chance of finding them. A little over a month ago 8 ran by me maybe 4-5m away. They were very loud.
