Title: Hummingdird feeders up yet?
Post by: Howieh on April 19, 2013, 03:23:50 PM
Has anyone already put up (or considered putting up) your hummingbird feeders? Based on last years migration map(s) my feeder went up in late March but, like most of us, I didn't have any hummers until early May. I know the males arrive first but I've never had a regular male so I'm not sure what to do, especially with the weather expected to be lousy for the next few days.

No feeder, no hummers - might as well go with the flow - will put it out on Monday at the latest.

Btw, I'm just back from a week in Branson Mo. and although it was mainly a show tour I got a chance to visit the Dogwood Canyon Nature Preserve. We had hoped to see hummingbirds but could not spend much time at their feeders so no luck there, BUT, despite the general overcast and temps in the mid teens there were quite a few butterflies around (mostly tiger swallowtails) and a few interesting birds that I could not ID. Great place, highly recommended if you're in the area (It's about an hours drive from Branson).
