Title: White-eyed vireo singing
Post by: mr.sharp-photo on April 23, 2013, 02:30:12 PM
I got quite a show this morning. I didn't know what this bird's song was...but when i heard R2D2 hiding in the bush, i thought I'd investigate. 30 seconds after I was there, it hopped out to the front of the bush and i took 2 pictures. The second picture's the very 1st pic I took of it. i had luck on my side.
Over 30 minutes, the vireo put on a great show and didn't remain hidden. It moves really fast, so sharp photos were hard to get. I probably have around 20 that I could post because it was being so accomodating, but since I'm not the 1st photographer posting, i'll post one of it singing and one of it being a goof.

Really glad i found this bird.

Glad to hear he was singing!  He was so quiet the two days I was looking for him - probably too exhausted.  I love your shots - especially the "goofy" one. I wonder if this will turn out to be the most memorable bird of the season?

Great shots, especially the second one! It's not often you get an unobstructed view of these guys, let alone a photo.

Hey Richard,

Great shots, really crisp and clear!  Glad you finally got to see and photograph this little skulker.  Persistence pays off once again!

Walter :)

Beauty shots man.  I've never seen one myself.

There was some idiot down in Pelee last Spring looking for one and he was constantly playing their call over and over again on some electronic device.  He fooled some birders but also nearly got beaten to death by some Tilley hat wearing, binocular wielding angry bird-ers.  I wouldn't be surprised if he was told to leave the park since they don't allow such antics in Pelee.

Your second shot is the best I have seen of this bird Richard.
Really great job.
