Title: Maplewood Park - female Cooper's Hawk eating "something"
Post by: Bird Brain on May 01, 2013, 03:57:12 PM
Hi everyone.  I was walking around Maplewood Park today from 11:30am - 2:00pm.  Sighted the following:

Blue Jays x 2
Cardinals x 2 (1m, 1f)
Crow x 1
House Sparrows - lots

Northern Flicker (male) x 1 - flying tree to tree, making a racket "wik wik wik wik" over and over, SO loud could hear through the woods!

Around 12:30pm, heard a "kek", looked around and sighted an adult female Cooper's Hawk sitting on top of lamp post, eating "something" - could only see bones/ribs and blood - both fascinating and gross at the same time!

Other:  Butterflies - Cabbage White x 2

Maplewood Park:  East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.
