Found this beautiful little guy walking along the shoreline of the Scarborough bluffs, just not sure if its a butterfly or moth. Any help would be appreciated.
-
It's a Swallowtail butterfly. They're slightly more common in June than May.
You'd have to look up whether it's a Yellow or a Tiger, I can't remember the details.
Beautiful aren't they?!
-
They are very beautiful. Both the yellow and tiger look similar. The colour on the tail makes it look like the tiger.
Thanks for the help Tak.

It is a Canadian Tiger Swallowtail or Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Not sure which one.
-
Of the two, Eastern Tiger Swallowtails are the ones seen in the GTA. Canadian Tiger Swallowtails are found further north and are slightly smaller in size.
