I live in Guildwood - Sylvan and Bethune  (unfortuntely not on the bluffs side).  I have been here for 27 years and never seen one around my area.  I have seen them at Bluffers Park etc.  

The heron was just sitting in the backyard on top of the tallest tree. My computer room faces north away from the lake.  The sun was shinning on his face at one point.  After 15 minutes he left.

I returned home and was working on the computer around 5:45 - 6:00 when I saw him coming towards the house again.  The heron was heading directly to the bluffs water at this time.

Thanks David.  Saw him again so he must live close by.  He seems to travel over my house every night between 5:30 and 6:00pm.  Will try to take a photo of him going over.  Ann
