They look like baby Killdeer.

This is spotted sandpiper.

What a coincidence! I was standing on the edge of the Grand River on Sunday at Glen Morris, under the bridge, and saw a pair much like this. Could have been the same thing but I could not tell through the binocs. if they had such a long bill.
Were the ones you saw sticking to the shore around small rocks to?
This could be what I saw.

Spotted's are fairly common around water areas
