Title: Some Recent Bugs
Post by: Brian Bailey on July 07, 2013, 10:41:00 PM
Still catching up, here are some odes and butterflies from the Kawarthas last weekend.
Up close and personal with a Familiar Bluet:

Viewing it on the camera's LCD, I thought this Widow Skimmer was a dud, but once I saw it on a bigger screen, I quite liked it:

Sedge Sprite:

I don't often come across Black-shouldered Spiny-legs that far south:

Lots of Northern Crescents around:

I'm terrible with butterflies, but I think these are Harris' Checkerspot:

I had an awful time getting it in focus (it was a busy bee), but I thought this Tricloured Bumblebee was kind of cool:

Up that way yesterday, I saw my first White-faced Meadowhawks of the year (no photos).
