1-2 days prior to the recent rain here no wildlife was near our home.
Anyone else notice?
Sadly our feeder is gone since our squirrel issue, even with a sq safe feeder, see my other post... on this.. im sick of thinking of it. Low on my Valium.
But we still had a few certain birds I know.

The birds can sense weather systems, they may have retreated for a safer area.

I know, and I see this sorts stuff , thanks for info, ... where are the gosh darn animals ???
all of them. this summer is like ... they are all , all invisible.

I'm asking the same, and when you do find them, there are small numbers.

Wow, super nice pics Irene ! made my day. Thnks :D
Just as I was walking to my pc I commented to me retired dad, 15 sec ago ..... that there is a overwhelming sense of calm and unusual quiet outside, warn . or mild still air, just calm. almost cottage calm and not nornmal as I am in North Etob., ??? :o
Like an earthquake is coming or something/? I dont know Irene but I have this weird feeling.
Seeing 1,2,3 max of each species, wasps to birds, literally !!!! :!:
3 max, even the Grackles and Starlings .. few and far between .. not 1 monarch. Max 3 yellow small butterfly's as of now. I am aware, too aware.
what next???? :?

Well, we just got in from Bobcaygeon and there doesn't seem to be a lack of birds out there, Ospreys everywhere, nesting happily and thriving, unfortunately no pics this time around but am going back up tomorrow (business) and maybe I might get a few shots here and there (am hoping for some R&R)
I agree with you though, weird quiet.

Great to hear !! probably one of my fav all time looking majestic & color of all birds.. and their flight!?? wow.... un real ... Osprey.
I bought a half decent starter dig camera 4yrs back when i was forced to quit work (100%) .... and sadly life (pretty much .. 50%) due to severe pain = scoliosis .. :(
birding helped with staying busy but now with no car for 1st time ever .. and i drove like 50,000 km per year going to cottage, travel, living life to fullest .. i am stuck back home with parents .. but stopped taking pics due to public transit travel inefficiency and shiity service. But I follow nature every second I am out.
I seem to have a closer view & gut feel / intuition with nature now, which is good, and I am telling ya, not to sound all negative Irene but things are too too quiet around. not a warbler nor junco anywhere or woodpecker on our apple tree hunting earwigs, etc... truly too quiet.
Maybe a late season .. plus we are going to put up a new feeder up soon ihope, refer to my posts re; squirrel. They made us stop feeding. But there were always birds still.
.... thanks for reply!

I meant the Kestrel .. not osprey... most majestic and interesting to watch. Hover. Like a helicopter ,. if I red the only bird of prey that can maneuver like Chopper?
ps, the one that was stationed at hwy 427 S, at the Dundas St exit is no loner around, I watched him (or relatives) daily when passing by for 10years. Not 2013 though.
a break in pattern is evident amongst most if not all species for me.
