Title: Black bear cub ?

My wife and I were startled this morning by what looked like a very tiny black bear running across the road in front of our vehicle...it didn't move like a groundhog or a raccoon...it was very dark...shaped like a bear...no tail...how big would a cub born this year be at this time of year?

Unless the mother got killed for some reason it would not be very far behind thats for sure.
