Title: Do Cardinals go bald?
Post by: Dinusaur on August 02, 2013, 08:39:21 PM
Yes, I mean the bird, Northern Cardinal. Last couple of weeks I have been seeing a cardinal in my backyard devoid of any hair on its head. This evening I managed to get a few pictures of him (see below), not of great quality; however, one can tell what's unusual about this one. Any idea why is this so?

Yes, this happens to blue jays also. It will normally come back with full feathers.

Thanks for the link Paul, it does explain why something like this happens.
