A Merlin last night (Aug. 14) perching for a half an hour in a dead tree in Carleton Park in Brampton. Apparently rare for the time of year. Tough to get a good photo though, shooting up and into the sun.

Thanks folks. Merlins are fairly common in the area in winter. I saw one nail a starling in mid-air. This one I photographed on a foggy day this past March.
