I visited Rattray Marsh this afternoon hoping for shorebirds. Not much luck on that: I tallied 3 spotties and a single Semipalmated Sandpiper. It was very quiet in the marsh and surroundings. The lake viewing partially made up for it. I found a Horned Grebe while counting 130 Red-necked Grebes offshore.
The other unexpected treat was a Northern Waterthrush bobbing its way along the edge of the cattails.
