Bird Activity was fairly quiet in the Humber Marshes on Saturday. one Great Egret posed nicely for photos:

I drifted so close I had to zoom out! Then, I still managed to back slowly out again without the egret ever moving from his perch.
Later I found a similarly cooperative Green Heron. I got stuck in the mud before I could test the limits of close approach.

Thanks. I find that many birds appear less threatened by a kayak and tolerate much closer approach than they would if I was on foot, particularly if I can drift slowly toward them.
